A former E! interviewer, Isaac Mizrahi, caused a stir on the red carpet when he touched Scarlett Johansson’s breast. This incident happened more than ten years before the #MeToo movement became a prevalent issue.
The Beverly Hilton’s ballroom has long been known for hosting odd incidents on Golden Globes night, but sometimes the strangeness spills over onto the red carpet. One such incident occurred on Jan. 16, 2006, when Isaac Mizrahi, a gay fashion designer and E! interviewer, groped Scarlett Johansson’s breast while questioning her attire. Although Mizrahi had previously pushed the envelope with provocative questions about celebrities’ underwear choices, his behavior towards Johansson was particularly shocking. Some individuals questioned whether Mizrahi’s sexual orientation made him any less responsible for his actions. In response to the incident, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences issued a statement expressing its displeasure and condemning such behavior on the red carpet. Although Johansson was initially taken aback by Mizrahi’s actions, she downplayed the incident later, saying that people made too big of a deal out of it.
